Each summer thousands of scouts travel from all over the US to participate in the fantastic activities and classes available at Hale Scout Reservation. 10 program areas around camp provide adventures ranging from rock climbing to horseback riding to swimming and shooting sports. Since 1930, Hale Scout Reservation has been the summer home to thousands of scouts and their families. HSR is located in the pine forests of the Ouachita Mountains near Talihina, Oklahoma.
Hale hires more 60 seasonal staff to operate and support programs in outdoor skills, aquatics, shooting sports, arts and crafts, STEM activities, nature and conservation, adult training, food service, maintenance, retail operations, guest services, museums, and administration.
Length of employment is flexible, but most summer positions run from MAY 27th to JULY 8th. Preference is given to applicants who can fulfill a commitment for the full season.
Salary is based on positions responsibility with consideration given to the individual’s experience. Starting base salary is $350 per week plus room and board. Area directors and experienced staff can make $450 and upwards a week. Uniform shirts and hats are provided and on job training is paid.
Hiring for the summer season occurs on a rolling basis with the bulk of interviews taking place from September through April. There is no application deadline, but applications are typically reviewed by hiring managers in the order they are received and routed based on the position choices entered.
